Dear Parents,
As the weather turns warmer Brookside's thoughts turn to Signs of Spring, planting our garden, and cleaning up our flower beds and grounds! April 13 was a West End Butterfly Garden Clean Up by our Cub Scouts. We had a good turn out that cleaned the garden, worked in the Butterfly House Courtyard, and had a delicious, and warming, hot dog roast!
Our big Spring Clean Up Day will be Saturday, May 11, from 9:00 to noon. We'll be trimming trees, raking beds, and putting down bed mulch in and aroudn the front bed, the front sign, and the East End Butterfly Garden. This is a big job! Many hands make light work so I hope you can join us! We'll need wheelbarrows, rakes, and weed diggers. We have child sized gloves and tools here. Thank you!
Next week is OAA Testing week for grades 3-6 and we'll begin our MAP assessing for grades K-2. We'll then finish up or MAP assessing in late April and early May. Sixth Graders go to Sixth Grade Camp on May 13, 14, 15, and we'll end the school year on Thursday, May 30th with a Thank You Assembly in the morning and PTA's Fun Day in the afternoon.
Thank you,
Mr. Monroe
