Dear Bluffsview Families,
November was certainly a busy month at Bluffsview! Parent conferences, our Veterans’ Day assembly, Book Fair and Turkey Trot provided each of us with an opportunity to be more involved in the Bluffsview community. We truly value your partnership as we work together to provide your children with opportunities to grow both academically and socially.
The end of the second quarter and first semester is December 19, 2014. Student progress reports will be available on Infinite Campus on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 when classes resume. Monday, January 5, 2015 is a Professional Day for records – Please remember there is NO SCHOOL on this day!
Students in grades 3-6 will begin taking the new PARCC assessments in February. The PARCC assessments are taken on-line rather than paper-pencil, as in past years with OAAs. We are working diligently with students to provide opportunities for them to access and utilize the technology skills that will be needed for them to be successful in taking these assessments. For more information and examples of practice questions, you can visit http://www.parcconline.org/ More information about these tests and the testing schedule will be coming home with your child’s teacher as we near the assessment window.
With the unpredictable winter weather, please listen to local radio and TV stations for school closings, delays and early dismissals. A phone call will be made through the Worthington Schools automated calling system when closings or delays occur. Please be sure that your information is entered accurately on the Worthington Schools’ website so you will receive this call. It is important to have a plan in place with your child should one of these situations occur.
I look forward to the months ahead and the many new joys it will bring to the Bluffsview community. In this time of thanksgiving, I want to extend my deepest appreciation for the many acts of kindness that each of you bring to the Bluffsview community, as well as for the opportunity you give me each day to be a part of your children’s lives. I wish you all a safe and family-filled time over our Winter Break and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
