Wilson Hill Staff CHAMPS Training
Description
Developed by Randy Sprick, Mickey Garrison and Lisa Howard, CHAMPS is a classroom-based approach to positive behavioral interventions. CHAMPS helps teachers establish smooth and efficient classroom routines, set clear standards, and reduce problem behaviors by explicitly teaching behavioral expectations and reinforcing positive behavior. Training modules focus on classroom vision, organizing routines and procedures, teaching expectations during the first month of school, developing motivational systems, monitoring student behavior, and responding to and correcting misbehavior. Within each module, an overview of behavioral strategies will be presented. Participants will learn key components of: a positive and productive classroom atmosphere; managing student behavior; establishing and using classroom rules; improving behavior during transitions; and increasing on-task behavior.
