Summer Reading Bookmark Contest

The Worthington Public Libraries need your help to design a bookmark for their 2017 Summer Reading Club. For this bookmark contest, you should create a design that interprets/represents this year’s theme, The Artful Summer. Winning entries will be turned into bookmarks to promote the club, and they will be distributed in the public libraries. To get an entry sheet, see Ms. Cready in the library. All entries must be returned to the Worthington Libraries by March 31st.  Last year, one of Worthingway’s own, Evie Arnita, won first place!

March Madness Hoops to Help

John and Ashley Haldeman are not only residents of Worthington, but they have been Worthington family members since their days at Worthingway.  Even after graduating, they continued to be a part of our family as John was a lacrosse coach at Worthingway and Ashley a cheerleading coach at Thomas Worthington.  Their family has since grown, and their son is a student at Worthington Estates and will be heading our way in a few years.

There was a wonderful piece done about their son Jacob which can be viewed on YouTube at the following link: https://youtube/tpLi4BjN1p0.  Jacob is in need of a lung transplant which has kept him from attending school in the way most of our students do each day.  Regardless, Jacob’s enthusiasm to attend school has never passed.  His passion and positive outlook have inspired so many of us in our community.

The Worthingway Community would like to give back to this amazing family.  To do so, Worthingway will be having a March Madness day on Friday, March 24th.  There will be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament with the winners playing the Worthingway staff in the championship game.  There will also be a 3-point shootout, a half court shot challenge, and a hat day.  Teams can enter a 3 person roster for $10.00, enter the 3-point shootout for $1.00, wear their favorite hat for $1.00, and take a half court shot for $1.00 to win prizes.  General admission to watch the events will be $1.00 as well.  All proceeds, including donations by staff and community will go directly to the Haldeman family to help reach their goal of $20,000 for medical expenses.

We will have an adjusted schedule on Friday for this special family.  The assembly will begin at 3:05 on Friday!  Students who do not attend the assembly will  report to the library.

Come join the madness and help raise money for a great cause!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the students honored for their Science Day projects & the February Students of the Month!
