Worthington is a suburban community located in the diverse and rapidly growing northwest section of metropolitan Columbus, Ohio. Historically, it is a community of New England heritage where residents enjoy traditional celebrations and support progressive ideas. The socioeconomic level of the population is above average, with many of the 61,307 residents being college-oriented, business, and professional people.
Brookside Elementary is one of 11 elementary schools in Worthington Schools. One of the older schools, Brookside opened in January of 1965. It is situated on 7.8 acres just west of the Olentangy River at 6700 McVey Boulevard
. Brookside Elementary is very involved with the Brookside Community. Brookside has a pond on site that is generally used by school for outdoor studies and by the community as a park setting.
The Brookside PTA is a very active and supportive group of parents, principal, and staff working together to enrich the educational experiences for children. PTA has supported Brookside's technological growth through the purchasing of a SmartBoard for every classroom. They also host monthly Family Fun Nights that range from a Scavenger Hunt to a Chili Cookoff to Family Reading Night to Book Fair. Visit the PTA page
