Several Global Scholars students traveled to Ecuador in June 2019 on a service and culture trip. Our adventure began and ended in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where we explored the communities, arts, and culture in and around the area. Other activities included a two-day community service project in the Amazon Basin, along the Napo River.
We stayed at the Minga Lodge and partnered with Me to We, a non-profit organization dedicated to making the world a better place. On day 6 we headed south to Baños, the “Gateway to the Amazon.” The region is well known for its beautiful landscapes, including waterfalls and hot springs. Here students experienced “extreme swings” high in the Andes mountains!
On day 8 of the trip, we made our way north to Quito and Otavalo, where we explored markets and local crafts and tasted regional foods. We hope that you enjoy their experience as illustrated in the images below!
