    TWHS Back-to-School Information                                                                

    Dear Thomas Worthington High School Students and Families,

    Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year!  We are looking forward  to working with you this school year.  Please read below and see the enclosed information regarding our back-to-school process.  All forms included in this mailing are also available on our TWHS website.  

    Students should plan to pick up their schedules at the designated times (below) on either Tuesday, August 9th or  Wednesday, August 10th.  Please park in the west end parking lot and enter through door 24 (athletic entrance). 

    Tuesday, August 9th 8:30 am - 3:30 pm 

    8:30 am - 10:00 am    A - D

    10:00 am - 11:30 am   E - K 

    12:30 pm - 2:00 pm     L - R

    2:00 pm - 3:30 pm       S - Z

    Wednesday, August 10th 

    8:30 am - 10:00 am      A - L

    10:00 am - 11:30 am    L - Z 

    11:30 am - 12:30 pm    A - Z

    5:00 pm - 7:00 pm        A - Z

    All students attending other campuses (Linworth, DACC, Worthington Academy, etc.)  are required to attend the TWHS Schedule Pick-up at their designated time to have their school picture taken for a Student ID (which is required to enter and leave TWHS to attend alternate campuses), receive their TWHS schedule, if applicable, and obtain textbooks.  Linworth students should plan to visit Linworth first, then come to TWHS. 

    Complete Annual Emergency Data Review and Update (REQUIRED): All parents/guardians of enrolled students, even those whose personal information has not changed, are required to update the Emergency Contact information for the 2022-2023 school year.  Please see enclosed information sheet for directions on how to complete the Emergency Data Review.

    ID and Password Recovery:  If you no longer have your ID and password, you can easily retrieve them by using the Password Recovery Link (https://www.worthington.k12.oh.us/Page/756) on the Worthington Schools WebPage (https://www.worthington.k12.oh.us/)

    Pay School Fees (Required: once they are entered in MyPaymentsPlus):  All students are assessed a $65 fee.  Seniors are assessed an additional $35 “Senior Fee” for a portion of commencement-related expenses. Please pay all current fees and any outstanding fines and fees via the online payment system, www.MyPaymentsPlus.com.  Fees will be entered the first week of August.  An email will be sent notifying families when the fees are available on MyPaymentsPlus. 

    Vision and Hearing Screenings for Students in Grades 9 & 11(Required):  Vision and hearing screenings are mandated by the  Ohio Department of Health. Worthington Schools Health Professionals will administer vision and hearing screenings during schedule pick-up to all students in Grades 9 & 11.  

    Complete School Fee Reduction/Free and Reduced Meals (Optional):  For the 2022-2023 school year,  all school food services are required by the USDA to return to pre-pandemic operations; this means that breakfast and lunch will no longer be free.  Please see the enclosed information sheet for all your food service questions or visit  www.worthingtonschoolmenus.com.  Applications for Free and Reduced lunch can be filled out online. 

    Textbooks, Course Materials and Chromebooks:  After receiving your student’s schedule, you will proceed to pick up textbooks and course materials.  Chromebooks will only be distributed to Freshmen and new students.  All other students should still have their school-issued chromebooks.

    HR Imaging School Picture Information (Optional):  All students will have a school picture taken and receive a  temporary student ID at schedule pick-up.  School IDs will be distributed the first week of school.  See the enclosed information for instructions on how to purchase a student photo package (optional). A makeup date is forthcoming.

    Complete Student Parking Application:  Students who drive to school must purchase a 2022 - 2023 parking  permit and display a tag in their vehicle.  Parking passes are required for the student parking lot, as the parking lot will be monitored for non-compliant vehicle parking. Vehicles without a pass will be subject to disciplinary action.  The parking application is available on your MyPaymentsPlus account under “Other Payments.” Parking permits may be purchased at any time during the year. Parent/Guardian consent is required. 

    Complete Parent-Teacher-Student Organization Form (Optional):  There are many opportunities for parent(s) and  guardian(s) to become involved at TWHS through our PTSO.   Applications can be filled out online by going to the PTSO tab on the Thomas Worthington web or by filling out the enclosed form. 

    Update Final Forms for Student-Athletes and Marching Band Participants (Required):  Students who plan on participating in a sport or marching band must have all forms completed on Final Forms (https://worthington-oh.finalforms.com/).  Required forms must be turned in electronically.  A valid OHSAA athletic physical must be turned in before mandatory practice begins. The completed physical may be uploaded to Final Forms, turned in to Mrs. Lee in the main office, or to their coach at practice.  Fall athletes must be fully compliant by August 1st.

    Student Accident Insurance Application is Available (Optional): Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Worthington students may  purchase student insurance, which is available through an outside agency. See the TWHS website for details. 

    Athletic Passes:  All TWHS students will be admitted free to all home sporting events  with a VALID student ID .   Adult Athletic Passes can be purchased for $75 and will be available online.  

    Important Dates and Reminders 

    All important dates and reminders can be accessed on the TWHS website. Below is a list of important dates in August:

     

    August 11:  9th Grade Orientation Program 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 

    August 11:  Ice Cream Social for All Grades 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. 

    August 17:  First Day of School for 9th Grade Only 8:40 a.m. - 3:20 p.m. 

    August 18:  First Day of School for All Grades 8:40 a.m. - 3:20 p.m. 

    August 31:  Meet the Teacher Night 7:00 p.m. - 8:55 p.m. 

     

    If students are unable to attend one of the schedule pick-up sessions, they will be able to pick up their schedules in front of Central Office beginning at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 18th.    Additionally, the bookroom will be open during school hours for textbook check out during one of  their non-academic periods as well as the library for tech devices.
