WES School Counseling - Becky Dausen
I am proud to work at Worthington Estates Elementary School with students in grades kindergarten through sixth. My program includes classroom lessons for all, small group counseling, and individual counseling. These components give me an opportunity to build relationships with students through curriculum and to weave a common thread of a positive school culture throughout our building. I also run our Peer Mediation program while collaborating with school staff and parents and community agencies.
I visit each classroom multiple times throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 30 minutes in length and cover topics such as school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, bully prevention, problem solving skills, managing stress, and multiple intelligences.
Small Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills with peers. Groups usually have 3-6 members and meet once a week.
Some students benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. Students can self refer or referrals come through parent and staff requests.
