As the school year begins to draw to a close, we prepare to say goodbye to a group of central office leaders whose collective impact is immeasurable.

The image features Kim Marani, Brian Geniusz, Kelly Wegley, Angie Adrean, Tom Kaczmarek, and Beth Reyna-Willams. It's their faces smiling at the camera with text that says Thank You for serving our schools.

Back in 1991 Boyz II Men put lyrics to my feelings when they sang “It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday…”

The strength of Worthington Schools has always been found in the quality of the people who dedicate their lives to our students. As the school year begins to draw to a close, we prepare to say goodbye to a group of central office leaders whose collective impact is immeasurable. These individuals have not only shaped our curriculum and supported our staff but have also modeled the kindness and integrity that define our community.

Angie Adrean concludes a remarkable 35-year career in public education, with 15 of those years right here in Worthington. From her time as principal of Worthington Kilbourne High School to her nine years as Assistant Superintendent, Angie has been a cornerstone of our leadership. She often reminds us that the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack. Her commitment to putting humans first and her belief in the power of a united team have left a lasting legacy. We will miss her wisdom, her humor, and her ability to lead with both her head and her heart.

In our special education department, we are experiencing two significant transitions. Kim Marani retires after 36 years of dedicated service to Worthington. Her journey from intervention specialist to Director of Special Education has been defined by the deep relationships she built across the district. Alongside her, Beth Reyna-Williams is departing after ten years as our Coordinator of Special Education to become the Director of Special Education in Upper Arlington. Beth’s decade of advocacy and care for our students with special needs has been a gift to our families, and while we are sad to see her go, we are proud of the leader she has become.

We also celebrate the retirements of several curriculum and instructional leaders. Kelly Wegley, Director of Academic Achievement, leaves us after 34 years. Kelly has been a champion for professional learning and instructional coaching, reminding us that growth is the true work of our careers. Brian Geniusz, our Science and Wellness Curriculum Leader, retires after 32 years of serving our students in the classroom and on the athletic fields. Tom Kaczmarek, our Mathematics and Business Curriculum Leader, transitions after over 33 years, leaving behind a culture of curiosity and kindness.

To these leaders: thank you for leaving Worthington better than you found it. Your fingerprints are on every success we celebrate.

BLOG POST:  This year reminded us of something simple: we can plan for a lot, but we can’t plan for Ohio weather.

From a week of winter closures to April’s hail storm, our schools have faced real challenges. Thanks to quick action from our maintenance teams and the patience of our families and staff, learning has continued without missing a beat.

Now, we’re looking ahead.
