Statement On Anti-Asian Hate Incidents

Anti-Asian hate incidents are on the rise in the United States. Data collection shows that nearly 3,800 anti-Asian hate incidents were reported within the last year.

The most common types of discrimination currently facing the Asian American community are verbal harassment, shunning, and physical assault, with 12.6% of all incidents being reported by youth. As a community, we must continue to make sure we are creating a welcoming environment for all students.

As a district that supports about 500 Asian identifying students (5% of our student population), it is important that we work to promote a culture of inclusive excellence and remain on the lookout for instances of bias, discrimination, bullying, and hate in our schools and communities.
